Born August 1, 1941 in Havana to Ira and Ernestine Staples, she was raised by her grandparents, George C. and Mae E. Higginbotham. Nancy married Jon P. May on July 23, 1961. He died December 29, 1962. She then married William A. Higham on February 24, 1968 in Creve Coeur. He died on May 20, 2015 in Creve Coeur. She also was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents and three half-brothers, Dale Mustered, Harry Mustered and Donald Mustered.
Surviving are three stepsons, Kim (Kathy) Higham of Pekin, Tim (Sue) Higham of DeKalb and Todd (Annette) Higham of Allen, Texas; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.
Nancy was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed golfing in earlier years.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
