

Nancy was the daughter of Francis Edmund Shane and Ardis Meeker Shane of rural Wyoming. Edmund preceded her in death this past June. Nancy was close to her grandfather Hallie Meeker who passed in 1980. She was married to Daniel Shockey in 1975, succeeding in 37 years of marriage. He survives.
Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers, Larry Shane (Connie) of Wyoming, Terry Shane of Wyoming, Shari Harwood (Tim) of Hallsville, MO, Judy Shane-Kopko of Wyoming, and Beverly Shane (Ken Perkins) of Sonora, California. Nancy also has two sisters-in-law, Susan Firebaugh (Scott) of Knoxville, TN, and Sally Jo Shockey (Rodger Liljestrand) of Espanola, New Mexico. Her father-in-law, Joe Shockey (Leona Lefler) of Decatur also survives. Many nieces and nephews survive. One nephew, Eric Shane of Toluca, preceded her in death.
Nancy graduated from Wyoming High School and the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Interior Design. She studied fine arts at San Jose State University, and completed other studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, at Mission College in Santa Clara, and at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA. She obtained a Certificate in Personal Financial Planning and a Certificate in General Insurance.
Nancy worked primarily as a Graphic Artist in the Publishing business. Since moving back to Wyoming, IL, in 2007, she established Spoon River Landing, a bookstore and art gallery, along with her husband. Nancy had many passions and gifts: her fine art of watercolor and oil painting, gardening and landscaping, light construction, and her pets. She was an accomplished wall plasterer. She leaves behind her dog Morgan.
Nancy is an alumni member of her house at college, WESCOGA Association. She was a member of the Santa Clara Water Color Society, the Palo Alto Art League, and the Wyoming Area Chamber of Commerce. She supported many activities in Wyoming and Stark County. She is a founding supporter of the WyHi Stark County Community Center.
Nancy has also resided in Kokomo, Indiana; Hollister, California; Albany, Oregon; and San Jose, California. She lived on the West Coast for 28 years.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, at the Congregational Church in Wyoming. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the same location, on Saturday, October 20. Further visitation will be available at 9:00 a.m. that Saturday. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.
