

She was born on March 31, 1948 in Peoria, the daughter of Chester Wayne Howard and Lillian Marie (Foster) Howard. Nancy married David F. Stone on June 27, 1970 in Peoria. He survives.
She is also survived by her daughter, Theresa Noel; her son, Adam Stone; grandchildren, AJ, Matthew, Lora, and Lucas; one great grandson, Calvin; and her sister, Patty Gunther.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
Her family moved to Miami when she was very young. She attended grade school in Miami and later returned to Peoria, graduating from Woodruff High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Bradley University, majoring in Speech and Theater.
Nancy devoted her life to teaching, serving students across Peoria as a Civics teacher at Woodruff High School, a 7th and 8th grade English teacher at Franklin Grade School, a 3rd and 5th grade teacher at Harrison School, and a preschool teacher at Kingman School.
Nancy and Dave have been members of Northwest United Methodist Church in Peoria for the past six years, finding fellowship and community there.
Nancy's family has arranged a celebration of life to be held at Northwest United Methodist Church on her birthday, March 31. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. Her celebration of life service will begin at 1:00 pm. Snacks will available for fellowship after the ceremony.
Cremation has been entrusted to Preston Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
