 When I sat there besides you,

I just knew you could feel me there.

My hand was holding onto yours,

As I dropped a few tears.

I watched your every breath,

And I prayed it wasn't your last.

The time we got to share together,

Went by too quick...too fast!

I wanted you to wake up,

Please Grandma open your eyes.

Tell me this is a nightmare,

And not our goodbyes.

As your last breath drew closer,

We all sat peacefully together.

My heart continually breaking,

As I wanted you forever.

Then there it was...

Your final breath,

I didn't want to believe it.

It was so cruel,

It's just not fair.

I held your hand and squeezed it tight,

And I tried to say goodbye.

It just didn't feel right,

A long sleep is what I must interpret this as,

So I'll just say goodnight.

But when reality got the best of me,

My senses came into play.

I've lost my only Grandma,

I've lost my best friend.

The only one I could confide in,

All I could do was cry.

But then I realized you were at peace,

And not suffering anymore.

You were beginning the life of an angel,

And your body would no longer be sore.

It's your time to let go and be free from all pain and all stress,

I understand Grandma,

You didn't give up...you gave it your best.

I'll try to be strong and to make you proud,

For you always spoke lovingly with open arms.

But for now I have to wait,

Untill we meet again.

You will always be in my heart and thoughts,

My dear Grandma...My best friend.

Always and forever our hearts will always touch,

Always and forever, your baby girl loves you so much!

~I am very grateful for the past couple months that I have been able to spend with my Grandma. While taking care of her, she was also taking care of me just the way she knew I needed. I'll never forget the day you asked me to crawl into bed and snuggle...telling me my nightgown was also in this room somewhere. I held you tight, my arms wrapped around you with your hand in mine. You gently rubbed my hand with your thumb, showing me how much you cared! Not five minutes later I asked if I should turn out the light, and you very seriously looked at me and said, "Well no, I'm going to eat!" I laughed and asked you what you were going to eat and you said you didn't care. I asked what sounded good and you said "mashed potatoes and gravy...homemade"! We didn't have any, but I very quickly got my shoes on. Told Jaylene I would be back...and off to the store I went. I made you meatballs, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn and apple cobbler for desert...and Grandma, you ate every last bit! For the next two weeks following, everyday you would ask me to snuggle...and everyday we laid together talking...sleeping...and watching Wheel of Fortune. Thank you so much for those memories that I will hold dear to my heart. For one day I will pass these stories onto my son as you passed so many onto me! You were not only my Grandma, you were my best friend. I will love you with every breath I take Grandma until we meet again. Until the day you can introduce me to my Grandpa, for whom I lost so young. Please wait for me Grandma, and hold me a special place in Heaven where I can forever more spend my moments with you! You were the best Grandma anyone could possibly ever have. You always spoke lovingly with kind words...for speaking badly was just not in your nature. I will never let my son forget his Granny, for he loved you so much. I will never forget the day before you passed, you were up eating pudding and eyes wide open. We came over before school to pick up Dad, and you looked up at him and said, "Well hi Bob" and smiled so big! You took such good care of all of us and you will be missed so much, but never will you be forgotten.

My sincere sympathy to all of Nettie's family. She was a wonderful, sweet lady. May she rest in peace. God bless.

I had not seen Aunt Nettie for awhile but have fond memories of her.  As a child I stayed overnight with her when my grandfather died.  I remember her kindness and sweet smile.
Nettie and her family will remain in my thoughts and prays.

We hadn't seen Nettie for many, many years but she always sent us a card over the Christmas holidays and we would send one back to her.  I will always remember how nice she was to me and will also remember her when Christmas rolls around!  God bless you, Nettie!

Nettie was a special, kind person to me.  She had the sweetest smile.  I will miss her Christmas cards.  She always wrote something special in them.  Delbert was always a "Cubbie" fan at heart right along with her.

I wish Heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again. I thought of you today but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday & days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories & a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part.

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, to death.  They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make.  Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. You were so supportive when Dad was Ill, I know you were loved very much and you will be missed dearly by all. I'm glad you had the opportunity to meet my family, I wish our families could be closer. I didn't know you that well, but I will miss you and here's one last "Go Cubs" just for you!
