

Born May 15, 1933 in Scott County to Sam and Mary (Brown) Hawk, she married Glenn Everett Waibel. She later married Larry Haynes.
Surviving are two sons, Gary (Joyce) Waibel of East Peoria and David (Trisha) Waibel of San Jose; two daughters, Barbara (Michael) Thomas and Connie Jo (Kevin) Alexander, both of Pekin; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan (Richard) Crum of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Hawk.
Norma was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Pekin, where she was a member of the Ladies of the Church and the church choir.
She worked for Caterpillar, Inc. at the foundry in Mapleton for nine years. She later worked for both Sears and K-Mart in the jewelry department.
Norma was a member of the Pekin Women of the Moose #673 and a former member of the Pekin Eagles Aerie 1869 Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and crafts.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday,February23, 2011at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor James West will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
