Born February 23, 1922 in Urbana to Sherman and Esther (Woodard) Pollock, she married Leonard G. “Len” Olt on June 12, 1943 in Memphis, Missouri, sharing 57.5 years of marriage before his passing on December 15, 2000 in Peoria. Together, “Ollie” and Len built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and hard work, owning & operating Olt Produce, a wholesale egg business in Pekin for 50 years.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patty J. Olt; one grandson, Joshua Alexander Olt; eight brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Lofgren, Jeanne (Keith) Harris, both of Pekin and Tammy (Olaf) Olt of Arlington Heights; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, whom were her pride and joy of life.
Taw, as she was affectionately known, was an amazing, classy lady who was always beautifully dressed and carried herself with elegance throughout her life. Even at 104 years old, she maintained a sharp and sense of humor that stayed with her until her final days.
A deeply Christian woman, Ollie often attributed her longevity to her “GMC”— “her God, her man, and her children.” She was kind to everyone she met and created countless special memories for her family. One of her most beloved traditions was keeping a Christmas tree up year-round, decorating it for the appropriate occasion, a reflection of the joy and love she brought into everyday life.
Taw also had a well-known sweet tooth and loved making homemade candy and chocolates for family and friends, another expression of the warmth and generosity that defined her life.
She will be remembered for her laughter, unwavering faith, timeless style, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and friends. Her legacy will live on for generations.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
