

Born May 6, 1910 in Redmon to David Ansel and Mary Louise (Ogdon) Crawford, she married Otho Lee Gurley on October 29, 1931 in Redmon, IL. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet Lee (Joe) Perkins of Peoria; four grandchildren, Randall Gene (Karen) Perkins of Queen Creek, Arizona, Joseph Lon Perkins II of Pekin, Cynthia Sauder and Anthony Lee (Lauren) Perkins, both of East Peoria and six great-grandchildren.
Opal worked for the Formalite Factory in Marshall, IL during World War II. She later worked as a licensed beautician for 10 years before retiring to Florida.
She attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
Opal loved to play bingo, games and taking care of her flower gardens.
Her memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. The Rev. Douglas A. Lightly will officiate. Burial of cremains will be in Embarrass Cemetery in Redmon at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.
