

Born April 17, 1922 in Illiopolis to Leslie and Martha Ann (Rodgers) Anderson, she married Glenn V. Johnson on January 4, 1942 in West Salem. He died August 9, 1995. She also was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Andrea Schaible and Jeffrey Blake; her son-in-law, Gene Blake; two sisters, Elizabeth Rutherford and Marie Anderson; and five brothers, Leslie, Clarence, Wayne Eugene, Herbert Loren and Russell.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Blake of South Pekin; one son, Alvin W. (Victoria) Johnson of Pekin; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Rosella Spreen of Jacksonville, Linda Wood of Springfield and Lillian Bailey of Texas.
Opal had attended the South Pekin Congregational Church.
She had worked as a grocery store clerk for Martin's Grocery in South Pekin for many years.
Opal was a member of the Pekin Hospital League and she loved to sew and quilt.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Tom Cox will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
