

Born January 14, 1934 in Hammond, Indiana to Orville L. and Irene M. (Bernhardt) Cook, Sr., he married Ruth Holloway on July 13, 1967 in San Jose.
Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters, Vicki (Donald) Pyatt , JoAnn (Rick) Wilson, and Sarah Cook, all of Pekin; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Donny Cook of Colorado, Richard (Linda) Cook and Kenny Cook, both of Pekin, and Larry (Alice) Cook of Congerville; and 2 sisters, Gladys Kastner of San Jose and Delores Baker of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Orville worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria and Mossville for 24 years, retiring in 1996 as a transmission assembler.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-57.
Orville was a shade tree car mechanic and a woodworker.
He was a Chicago White Sox baseball fan and an Illini basketball fan. He loved watching his grandchildren’s sports events.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. David Carrington will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Army.
