Paula J Teufel

Born October 29, 1950 in Peoria to Billy G. and Mary Belle (Seaton) Hansen, she married William F. "Will" Teufel, Jr. on January 2, 1973 in Washington. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents of Germantown Hills; one daughter, Kristina Jean (Robert) Herrick of Metamora; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Jean Herrick, Natalie Christine Herrick, Daniel Robert Herrick, and James William Herrick, all of Metamora; two brothers, Billy G. (Debra) Hansen, Jr. of Lufkin, Texas and Larry L. (Linda) Hansen of Metamora; one sister, Marie B. (Roger) Gibson of Warner, Oklahoma; and her mother-in-law, Delores Teufel of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, one brother (Kevin Hansen), and father-in-law (William Teufel, Sr.).

Paula was a 1968 graduate of Metamora Township High School and was a member of the band boosters from 1995 to 1998.

She owned Paula's Pins and Needles for many years. She also was a bus driver for the Germantown Hills School District #69 from August of 1988 until December of 2007.

Paula was a former EMT and firefighter with the Germantown Hills Volunteer Fire Department. She was life flight certified and was a CPR instructor. She founded the Central Illinois Chapter of Threads of Love in 2002, serving as Executive Director until 2007. As an avid quilter, she taught quilting for the past 15 years. She was a member of the Peoria Area Quilters Guild and Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Washington.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2206 Washington Road, Washington. The Rev. John E. Rothfusz will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
