

Born February 13, 1928 in Charleston, Missouri to William Henry and Lucretia Griffin (Schaeffer) Hart, she married Edwin Dalton Newcomb on January 16, 1947 in Charleston.
She was preceded in death by her husband on September 28, 1999; 1 grandson; 6 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Surviving are 4 sons, Steve Dalton (Becky) Newcomb, Larry Jerome (Bonnie) Newcomb, and Melvin Leon Newcomb, all of Pekin and Phillip Dean (Margaret) Newcomb of Colona; 2 daughters, Florence Marie (Daniel) McClure of Pekin, Marilyn Janice Newcomb of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Isabelle (Bob) Anderson of Granite City and Alvina (Herbert) Forrester of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
A devoted Catholic, she was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston and had attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pekin.
She enjoyed sewing, canning, yard work, and crocheting.
She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Father Larry Morlan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.
