

PEKIN ~ Peggy Louise Long, 74 of Pekin passed away at 11:10 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at her home.
She was born May 18, 1937 in Pekin to Robert and Frances (Blakely) Nelson.
Surviving are two daughters, Jodi (Patrick) Umberson of Victorville, CA and Peni Long of Delray Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Aaron and Katie Umberson, both of Victorville, CA; two great-grandchildren, Chancellor and Aleksandr, both of Victorville, CA; one brother, Bobby Dean Nelson of CA; two sisters, Penny (David) Kammerer of Peoria, Helen Nelson of Sierra Vista, AZ and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Nelson and one brother, Ronnie Nelson.
She had worked for Dow Precision Hydraulics in CA from 1979 until retiring in 2001.
Peggy was a volunteer for the Tazewell County Museum for several years. As a hobby, she was a miniaturist, building doll houses, furniture and creating intricate flowers and landscaping. She made lifelong friends pursuing this interest. She loved to travel, particularly to Florida, Mexico and the Bahamas. She also enjoyed the theater, and on her 70th birthday, she was able to attend the theater on Broadway in New York City, which she later loved to tell everyone about.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
