

Born November 13, 1919 in Merrimack, New Hampshire to Eraklis and Panagiota (Timpas) Balanos, she was raised in Greece and returned back to the United States at the age of 20. She married William Edward “Bill” Sharpe on May 5, 1951 in South Rockwood, Michigan.
Surviving are her husband, William “Bill” Sharpe of Pekin; one daughter, Anne (Daniel) Binz of North Augusta, South Carolina; two grandsons, Matthew (Jeannie) Binz of Westmont and Michael Binz of Chicago; and one sister and two brothers, all of Greece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Until physical limitations in later years prevented her from participating, she was an avid golfer and bowler. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sharing the results of those hobbies with friends and relatives.
She was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria and the Philoptochos Society.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Ciprian Sas will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
