Born December 26, 1965 in Pekin, he was a son of Gary Arthur and Carol Sue (Tucker) Mayberry. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are four children, Jessica Mayberry, Matthew (Crystal) Mayberry, Lydon Mayberry and Ryah Mayberry, all of Pekin; three grandchildren, Spencer Lynn, Alexis and Myckaela Sue; one brother, David (Korine) Mayberry of Morris; twin sisters, Heidi (Matt) Mamer and Holly (Scott) Webster, both of East Peoria and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
He was a 1984 graduate of Morton High School, where he wrestled all four years. He loved watching wrestling and followed Iowa wrestling. He also coached wrestling at Tremont for many years.
Phil worked for Iron-A-Way for 42 years, last working as a manager on August 28th. He also had worked as a warehouseman for Farm & Fleet in Morton.
Phil was an avid hunter and turkey hunting was his passion. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and doing anything outdoors. He was family centered and enjoyed gathering with family. Phil was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the National Rifle Association.
His visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where a funeral service will immediately follow. Larry Mayberry, his uncle, will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The family encourages guests attending to wear hunting apparel to honor Phil.
