

Born December 24, 1931 in Arkport, New York to Harold A. and Nellie M. (Burd) Polmanteer, she married Thomas H. Cox on February 14, 1952 in Hornell, New York. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Nancy Cox of Bloomington, Diana “Susie” (Ralph) Chance of Marquette Heights and Sandy (Dave) Morse of Tremont; one son, Jerry (Connie) Cox of Pekin; nine grandchildren, Jenny Cox of Chandler, Arizona, Steven Cox, Danny (Chelsea) Cox, both of Pekin, Eric (Kristen) Chance of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Eran Chance of Pekin, Rissa Chance, Jeremy Chance, both of Marquette Heights, Jenny Hanners of Pekin and David (Ashley) Morse of Lincoln; fifteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and one brother, William H. Polmanteer of Hornell, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Bryan Morse and one sister, Marjorie Benson.
She worked for Bergner’s in the Pekin Mall in cosmetics for 12 years, retiring in 1984.
Phyllis was devoted to her family and was all about taking care of her kids and grandkids.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Randy Hall will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.
