He was born on October 11, 1948 in Pekin to Robert and Geraldine (Look) Farnam.
Randy proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later worked for Caterpillar Inc. as a draftsman for 30 years. Randy was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed traveling including going on 24 cruises, golfing, fishing and building models of planes and ships. Randy also enjoyed his train collection.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Shane) Smith of Pekin; son, Zack Farnam of Pekin; seven grandchildren, Bella Farnam, Janice Godbey, Kayla Mortensen, Ssgt. William (Jake) Mortensen, Ryan Mortensen, Kaitlin Smith and Alexander Smith; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Rhonda Telander of Pekin and one brother, Rodney (Linda) Farnam of Pekin.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with military rites provided by the United States Navy and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Pastor Cheryl Sherwood will officiate the service.
