

Born January 25, 1927 in Friendship, Tennessee to C.B. and Georgia O. (Agee) Browder, he married Ruth Simpson on March 22, 1947 in Hernado, Mississippi. She died March 29, 2000 in Peoria.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one son, Richard Jr.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Browder of East Peoria; one daughter, Linda (William) Cox of Creve Coeur; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II.
He worked as a machine operator for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria, retiring in 1982 after thirty years of service.
Richard loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed carpentry work, billiards and was a Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Stephen W. Barch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
