Richard Warren Brown

Born November 23, 1934 in Sterling to Sherman J. and Frances (McGava) Brown, he married Joan Schrader on July 31, 1954 in Sterling. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Jennifer (Dennis) Dipple of Scottsdale, Arizona, Lori Brown of Pekin, Debra (John) Glunz of Pekin and Kevin Brown of Toney, Alabama; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Vedas, Jessica Sparks, Corey Brown, Elizabeth (Steven) Morris and Conrad Dipple; two great-grandchildren, Averi Price and Mylah Sparks and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Doug Brown and six siblings, Marian, Robert, Donald, Jack, Carol and Kay.

Richard worked as a boiler operator for Pekin Community High School District #303 until he retired in 1997.

He loved being outdoors, doing yard work, mowing, sitting on the porch, and feeding the birds and squirrels. He also built many birdhouses, enjoyed playing solitaire and was a huge Chicago Cubs fan.

Richard was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

Private family services will be held at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded.
