Richard A Day

Born November 27, 1954 in Peoria to Gilbert E. and Bernice O. (Harmegnies) Day, he married Penny Lynette Pumphrey on September 13, 1975 in Pekin. She died December 28, 2003 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents.

Surviving are his parents of Bartonville; one son, Tobbias (Joyce) Day of Bartonville; three grandchildren, Serenity, Chase and Ella Day, all of Bartonville; one brother, Michael (Georgia) Day of Mapleton and one sister, Linda (Rob) Terlesky of Bartonville.

Rick retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 2011, after 36 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 974.

A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Rick enjoyed fishing, especially during many family vacations in Minnesota. He also had a love of music and was an expert woodworker.

His memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Stephen W. Barch will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.

There will be a celebration of life gathering following the services at the American Legion in Bartonville.
