  We are very glad that we could have known Richard and are very pleased to have known who he really was.  Even though we were cousins, we are more than grateful that we were family.  We know that he is at peace now.  Our prayers go to his mother, brother, sister and daughter and to all that had a special place for him in their hearts.

Phyllis, you always said Richard would give the shirt off his back, and he would.  Richard and I were very close for a shor time, but in that time, Richard left his imprint on me and I won't forget him.  We always had fun together, his family was a big part of that time. I dug potatoes with Phyllis, spent time with Bruce and his family, and Kathy was the big sister we liked talking to.
The song "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel always reminds me of Richard because he would sing it to me, and he was good.  I always asked him to sing it to me while we worked at A&W and he would break out in song regardless of who was around.  Richard taught me to drive a stick shift car, took me to prom, made me lunch, and was alot of fun.  At 17, we were always on the go and care-free.
I am glad I met Richard and his family.  I am also very glad to have met his beautiful daughter.  Shereen, I wish you and all of Richard's family the very best.  Richard is pain-free and care-free now!
Rest in peace Richard...until we meet again.

   I was sadden to hear of your loss.  I remember him as our neighbor on Annaeliza St.

Richard was an amazing person whose soul is stronger than most of us. For each person he had met, he touched there lives in different ways. Richard changed my life dramatically, and if it weren't for him, i'm afraid to think where I would be right now. He gave me an angel, our beautiful 15 yr old daughter. It is in Shereen that her father's light will forever shine! Richard taught me patience, to accept things that one cannot change, and not to judge others. There are many other things, but I believe these are the most important ones. Only a strong soul can live the life that Richard did. I am very proud to have been blessed enough to share a part of his life with him! I know he is very happy, and now - HE is the one that will be watching over and taking care of his family and friends!

Mrs. Everett,  I just wanted to express my condolences. I had never meet someone with such wonderful manners like Richard had. You were always a wonderful support system for him and was always willing to help when needed while he was living at the Sharons.  God Bless you and your family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I grew up at the Everett's house. As a child that was my favorite place to go. Waking up for those great breakfasts Phyllis would make. I remember Richard before his illness. I recall the times we spent together. I especially recall the time Richard told me that the hobo's would get me if I went by the railroad tracks. And of course I never did go by the tracks. He told Phyllis that he told me that because he was afraid something would happen to me.. He always treated me like alittle sister. And of course I got to ride the dirt bike with Richard and Kathy but Richard was the one to drive me threw the itch weed. We all spent alot of time together. Richard was an all around "Great person", he always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone. As I grew older, I have always held those memories of him. I will miss him so much. I cry just thinking about him. I will never forget you and now I know that you are not ill no more. You were meet at the end of the light by the people who we all loved that have passed before you...Your Father(Robert), and all your grandparents. May you rest in peace my
big brother. Love ya and will miss you dearly.

My son, Darrin Harvilla and Richard were good friends in high school.  Richard came to our house on Sherwood Street in Pekin, many, many times.  He always had a smile for us and we always enjoyed his visits.  Richard also had a crush on our daughter, Kristine.  She remembers him well. She called him "little Richard" because he was on the short side, like she is. We never knew for sure if Richard came to see Darrin, us or Kristine!!!! 

The last time I saw Richard was at Dr. Cullinan's office, with his father a few years ago.  Richard said, aren't you Mrs. Harvilla?  I said yes and then I recognized him. Richard told me that his father was very ill.  We had a nice visit together. Our family will never forget Richard and what a joy he was to be around as I am sure you already know.

May he rest in Peace with the Angels.

I remember Richie from attending Illini Bluffs School District with him through graduation.  I also remember the first day that he came to our school.  We were in the temporary building at the top of the hill in Mapleton.  We were in Mrs. Farris' third grade class.  Richie sat in the desk right next to me.  He was a sweetie from the very start.  He pretended to be from the city and regarded our little school as the country.  I had to laugh to find out that his "big city" was Pekin!  I've lost track of him through the years since High School, but smile when I think memories of him while were in school together. He was one who always had a kind word and a smile for me. Just wanted to express my condolences. I knew Richard, thru Richard Bennett. I didn't know him well, just that he was a very nice man. I am sorry for your loss..

I am a good friend of Eunice and Shereen's.  I just wanted you all to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Phyllis, and family...  Please know that while I can't be with you at this time (since I've just completed radiation)my thoughts are with you continually. Phyllis, you and I have shared many conversations over the recent years about your frustration in getting appropriate intervention from the system for Rich. PLEASE...always hang on to the thought that there was never a day that you weren't there for Richard. Your love and support were the most important things in the world to him and he 'always' knew you would be right there for him.  While remembering all the happy times with Richard, take time to remember as well - how deeply he loved you all.

    Richard was truely a special person. Bruce, your description of Richard and his life were heartwarming. May your family be comforted in knowing that  Richard is enjoying the peace he sought out and so much deserved. 

May God Bless your family with wonderful memories.  We will smile with our memories of Richard touching our lives....all the way back to Lincoln School memories!  He touched many hearts-including the Prather Family
