Born December 5, 1934 in Bloomington to Carl and Bernice (Peterson) Goodlick, he married Jan Miller on July 21, 1961 at the First United Methodist church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Randy (Pam) Seward of Pekin; one daughter, Kim (Joe) Martin of Morris; four grandchildren, Kyle Seward and Kenzie (Cody) Bachman, both of Pekin, Nick (Jessica) Stafford of Eureka and Tyler Stafford of Bloomington; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma (Ray) Garber of Pekin and Judy Kumpf of Hopedale and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant great-granddaughter, Karlee; two sisters, Donna Alt and Mary Alice Kuntz; one brother, Larry Goodlick
Rich was a veteran of the United States Army.
He worked for Local 644 as a Carpenter for 40 years before retiring in 1996.
Rich loved traveling with his wife, Jan, and spent winter months in Florida and Arizona and many summers in Alexandria, Minnesota at Jan’s Parents Cabin on Lake Brophy. He coached Cub Scout softball and little league baseball. Rich had the best spirit and love for people and life. He liked to make people laugh but he especially loved to prank people in his mischievous way. He loved children and said the best sound is a child laughing. Rich donned his Santa suit at Christmastime for years to visit kids of friends and family, sometimes only waving into their window if the children knew him well and might recognize him.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
