

Born July 28, 1936 in Pekin to Harold and Dorothy Shreves Hoover, he married Nancy Gildard on June 15, 1956 in Palm Harbor, Florida. He later married Deanna "Cookie" Hoelzel in July 1986 in Las Vegas.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Vickie (Gary) Benisch of Washington, Patricia Hoover of Dunedin, Florida, and Terri (Terry) McBee of Kansas City, Missouri; 2 sons, Darrick (Melissa) Hoover of Littleton, Colorado and Doug (Kim) Hoover of Pekin; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Rodger (Penny) Hoover of Pekin; and 1 sister, Deanna (Vincent) Oltman of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
Dick worked for Ashland Chemical Company (later, Sherex Chemical Company) in Mapleton for 37 years, retiring in 1992 as an electrician.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from January 8, 1954 until being discharged on January 7, 1958 as an Airman First Class, jet engine mechanic.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
An avid outdoorsman, he was also a comedy movie buff.
He was a Chicago Cubs baseball and Chicago Bears football fan.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Mark A. Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2006at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
