

He was born July 31, 1946 in Pekin to Godfrey Leroy and Velma Marie (Shallenberger) Munter. His parents and two sisters (Anna Darlene Althiser and Sherry Taylor) preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Anthony J. "Tony" (Becky) Munter of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Michael J. (Tina) Munter of Johnson, Arkansas; four grandsons, Richie Seay, Derek Munter, Kyle Munter, and Cade Munter; five brothers, Jim L. (Lottie) Munter of Manito, Robert (Joyce) Munter of Salem, Missouri, Gale L. (Dora) Munter and Donald E. (Jamie) Munter, both of Pekin, and Jack D. Munter of Canton; two sisters, Peggy (Paul) Putney of Niceville, Florida and C. Sue (Gary) Barton of Havana; and many nieces and nephews.
A United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from August 22, 1963 to August 21, 1967.
Butch was a self-employed carpenter for many years. Previously, he worked for the City of Pekin Street Department for 10 years and was a salesman for Banta Foods in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869 in Pekin.
Butch enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons and family. He was an avid sports fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears.
His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. There will be no service.
The family will receive friends following the visitation at the Pekin Eagles Lodge, 274 Derby Street in Pekin.
