

Born December 31, 1941 in Pekin to John Millen and Lucy Ina (McGill) Leslie, he married Janet Elizabeth "Jan" Timerman on May 14, 1966 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Diane E. (Vic) Imig, Paula S. (Matt) Miller, both of Tremont and Jennifer J. (Don) Lang of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Alyssa Imig, Katelyn Imig, Caleb Imig, Nathan Miller Jack Miller, Destiny Saal and Mackenzie Lang; one brother, John S. (Lorie) Leslie of Las Vegas, NVand two sisters, Donna S. (James) Greener and June K. (Mel) Behrends, both of Pekin.
His parents preceded him in death.
A 1959 graduate of Pekin Community High School, Rich was a 1963 graduate of Illinois State University in Normal with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. He earned his Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from ISU in 1964.
Rich worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 2000 as a senior logistics consultant in Mossville. Prior to Caterpillar, Rich taught mathematics for four years at Springfield High School.
He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, served as a lector and a member of the Resurrection Choir. He also served the church as a member of the core team for the Rite of Christian Initiation, a volunteer for the prison ministry and was a past participant in Cursillo. For 18 years, Rich was a member and volunteered with Gideon's International.
He loved his children and grandchildren and avidly followed their activities, especially sports. He enjoyed golfing with his friends from Tremont and Caterpillar.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Monsignor Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
