He was born on March 20, 1960, in Peoria to Jacob C. and Judith Ann (Williams) Hertz. His parents preceded him in death as well as one daughter, Ashley Lewis Hertz and one sister, Renee Williams.
Surviving are three children, Emily Hertz of Mapleton, Eric Hertz of Peoria and Joshua Carrell; four siblings, Mark Hertz of Norwood, Melonie Gordon of Pekin, Ronda Prather of Pekin and Kathy Jo Hertz of Bartonville and many nieces and nephews.
Rick loved to make people smile. He didn’t like to be serious, he was constantly cracking jokes and trying to keep the people he cared about happy.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
