Robert A. Bateman

PEKIN ~ Robert “Bob” Allan Bateman, 78, of Pekin, passed away at 7:48 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2022 at his home. Born May 18, 1943 in Peoria to Lloyd and Mildred (Blanchard) Bateman, Jr., he married Rhoda “Rose” Kravitz on May 25, 1990 in Pekin. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert A. Bateman, Jr. of Hawaii and Randy (Brittany Rustecholz) Bateman of Pekin; two daughters, Andrea Oliver of Peoria and Jodi (Daniel) Driscoll of Pekin; six grandchildren, Denae (Michael) Doehrman of Creve Coeur, Bree Loveall and Rhae Bateman both of Pekin, Cassidy Bateman and Carly Bateman, both of Jacksonville and Addison Bateman of Pekin; six great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Lloyd Edward Bateman and one sister, Karen Sue (Tom) Popowski. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob worked for many years as a laborer. He worked as an engineer on tugboats and on the barges along the river. He also worked in roofing and construction. In his free time Bob enjoyed hunting for arrowheads to add to his collection. He also enjoyed hunting for mushrooms. Military rites will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Cremation will be accorded.
