Robert A Berchtold

GREEN  VALLEY ~  Robert Allen Berchtold, 78, of Green Valley, passed away at 12:51 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at his home.

Born August 6, 1933 in Green Valley to Ernest and Alice (McBride) Berchtold, he married Jo Ann Griffin on November 29, 1952 in Jefferson City, Missouri. 

Surviving are his wife; one son, Robert E. Berchtold of Green Valley; one daughter, Kathy Jo (Mark) Hindman of Hinckley; four grandchildren, Nicole, Brian, Amber, and Eric; two great-grandchildren, Charlee and Harlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe and John; and three sisters, Mary, Ethel, and Leona.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 57.

Bob worked for Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria from 1964 until retiring in 1992.

An avid Chicago Cubs fan and he enjoyed carpentry.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manito. 

Bob was a family man, and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m., Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Eugene Haug will officiate.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral.   Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.
