Born August 16, 1930 in Leroy to Carrol C. and Alta M. (Sappington) Brining, he married M. Judy Hancock on October 11, 1979 in South Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Carol McElfresh-Brining of East Peoria, Sheryl Christie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dr. Holly (Scott Stuhlmann) Brining of Duluth, Minnesota; two sons, Clifford (Brenda) Brining of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan and Doug Brining of Reed Springs, Missouri; one adopted son, Mark Brining of Mapleton; six granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and his beloved cat, Kiki.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elmer and Gene and one sister, Mary.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916 for 30-plus years, and member of William Schaefer American Legion Post #44 in Pekin.
He worked as the manager of Heat Treat Engineering at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 36 years before retiring in 1986.
Bob enjoyed bowling in the Caterpillar League and building homes. He was a brilliant engineer that had a deep love for fishing and spending time with family.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Jay Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military rites will be provided by the United States Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
