

Born June 12, 1927 in Witt, Illinois to Lester E. and Mercy (Hadley) Compton, he married Lois E. Smith on December 22, 1951 in Nokomis. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Paul L. Compton of Mesa, Arizona; two daughters, Connie S. Craig of Port Charlotte, Florida and Sandra L. Polson of Elbert, Colorado; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Bradley Compton; and two sisters, Ellen and Genevieve.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Roy, Lawerence and Ray and one sister, Edith.
Bob served in the United States Army during the end of World War II and the Korean War as a mechanic in Germany. He also had been an active member of local Model A clubs and was referred to by his friends as “The Model A Man”.
Per Bob’s wishes, the family is not planning a visitation or service. Cremation will be accorded. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur is assisting the family with arrangements.
