

Born December 9, 1924 in Grass Lake, Michigan to Marion and Rubie (Baer) Geething, he married Betty Lou Plummer on May 21, 1948 in Grover Hill, Ohio. She died on September 5, 2009 in Pekin.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Robert A. Geething; 1 grandson, Robert S. Geething; 1 grandson, Toby Guy; 1 sister; and 3 brothers.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Barbara (Randy) Nelms and Linda (Don) Yoder, both of Pekin; 1 son, Kevin Geething of Tomah, Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-greatgrandsons; 1 brother, Jim Geething of Van Wert, Ohio; and 1 sister, Ginny Placke of Grover Hill, Ohio.
Robert worked for IBM for 32 years, retiring in 1983 as a senior customer engineer.
A very patriotic veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an electrician’s mate aboard sub chaser SC514 and was a member of the American Legion..
Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, building remote controlled boats, working on small engines, and he once built a canoe. He was also a consummate home improvement advisor.
He was a member of First Missionary Church in North Pekin, where a memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, December 26, 2011. The Rev. Tony Darr will officiate Military honors be provided by the U.S. Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
