

Born October 17, 1926 in Smithville to John and Marie Bollinger Huls, he married Marian Taylor on July 17, 1946 in Peoria. She died in February, 1988. He then married Carolyn Breaden Rose on March 10, 1989 in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife; 4 sons, Mark (Tami) Huls of Crystal Lake, and Wally (Lori) Behrends, Gary (Lori) Behrends, and Mike (Panette) Rose, all of Pekin,; 2 daughters, Vicki (Bob) Klepfer of Metamora, and Joy Rose Swanson of Pekin; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren..
Bob was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; 1 brother; and 1 sister
Bob worked at Komatsu Dresser in Peoria for 43 years, retiring as inventory and production manager in 1991. He was a former president of the Komatsu Retirees Club.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II in the Pacific theater of war. He was a member of Bartonville American Legion Post 979 and Bartonville VFW Post 883.
A former Marquette Heights alderman, Bob had also been a member of the Marquette Heights Lions Club a, Pekin Moose Family Center 916, a Cub Scout leader, and a 33 year member of the Young Republicans Poker Club. Being a democrat they were able to get things done.
While living on Sunset Drive, along the Illinois River, he loved fishing, boating, all water sports with the kids and grandkids, family and friends.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial of cremated remains will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
