

Born November 28, 1931 in Peoria to Lawrence and Hattie Mabel (Wayman) Welsch, he married Joyce A. Pinkham on June 18, 1966 in Peoria. She died July 13, 2009. He also was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clarence Welsch, Lawrence “Joe” Welsch and Roy Welsch and one sister, Velma McClintick.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews and his loving caregivers and friends.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
Cookie was a longtime self-employed cement finisher who also formerly worked for R.H. Remelius. He was a retired member of International Operative Plasters and Cement Masons Local 18.
He had a gift as a carpenter, was a builder and especially enjoyed making bird and bat houses. He also built special easels and special tree house for a niece. Cookie loved to make holidays special for his family.
A private burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
