

Born December 28, 1929 in Bloomington to Claude J. and Marguerite E. (Bendschneide) Cotner, he married Lurleen “Susie” Lindsey on September 22, 1966 in Camden, Tennessee.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Frank) McGinn of Bloomington; one granddaughter, Sophie McGinn of Bloomington; and one sister, Carol (O.D.) Schenkel of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister; 1 brother; and 1 niece.
Ron worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 28 years, retiring as a welder in 1996.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Ron was a member of Pekin Lodge #29 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed cartography, cryptology, and building models of ships and airplanes.
A history buff, he was particularly interested in the Civil War and both World Wars.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Thomas C. Wirsing will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2009. His graveside service will be at noon Thursday at Parkhill Cemetery in Bloomington.
