

Born October 17, 1949 in Pekin to Clyde Coleman and Elouise Ruth (Baysinger) Hawkins, he married Donna Joy Coman Feltmeyer on July 3, 1969 in South Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Ronald C. (Connie) Hawkins, Jr. of South Pekin; one daughter, Lynken (Tonica Lynn) Toyne of Lake Wells, Florida; three grandchildren, Selene Aurora of NorthGlenn, Colorado, Remington Coleman (Taylor Harms) Hawkins of South Pekin and Codie James Hawkins of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Ronnie was a long-time and dedicated public servant for the citizens of Cincinnati Township in Tazewell County. He served as township trustee from 1988 to 1993, then as township clerk from 1993 to 1997, and lastly as road commissioner from 1997 until retiring in 2019. Through decades of public service, Ronnie brought consistency, care, and respect to the everyday needs of his community.
In addition to his years with the township, Ronnie was a retired member of Laborer’s Local 231 in Pekin, working out of the local from 1999 to 2015. Earlier in his working life, he was employed by Corn Products from 1969 to 1982 and by Consolidated Land Surveying from 1989 to 1999, in all, years that reflected a strong work ethic.
Ronnie also gave of his time as a longtime coach for Pekin JFL, a member of the Duck’s Unlimited Bath-Kilbourne-Chandlerville Chapter, and a member of the Cincinnati Democrat Club. He was formerly involved with the Central Illinois Dream Factory.
Ronnie will be remembered with gratitude and respect by all who knew him, and especially by those whose lives were touched by his faithful service.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
His funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, and also from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
