He was born November 2, 1942 to Ronald Keith and Velma Marie (Sorensen) Melvin. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are his two stepsisters, Genevieve Lee of Creve Coeur and Linda Sue McClelland of Washington; two step-nieces, Jane Page and Robin McGill and three step-nephews, Michael McClelland, Gregg McClelland and David Heath.
Ronald was a United States Army veteran who served from 1970 to 1976. He was discharged as an E5 and was awarded the Vietnam Cross for Gallantry.
He enjoyed cowboy culture, cars and motorcycles. Ronald had previously worked as a truck driver.
There will be no services at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at a later date.
