

PEKIN ~ Ronald Lee Myers, 77, of 1105 South 8th Street, passed away at 10:23 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007 at his home. Born July 11, 1929 in Kilbourne to Orvie and Elsie M. (Lascelles) Myers, he married Peggy Joan Baxter on July 15, 1951 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2005 in Peoria. His parents, two brothers, and one grandson, Jacob Myers, also preceded him in death. Surviving are one daughter, Ronda Duncan of Pekin; one son, Dennis (Theresa) Myers of Green Valley; five grandchildren, Josh (Tammi) Duncan of Pekin, Jonathan Duncan of Peoria, Melissa (fiancé Ben Spiller) Myers of Edwardsville, Ashlyn Myers and Kyle Myers, both of Green Valley; one great grandson, Cole Duncan of Pekin; two brothers, Russell Myers and Donald Myers, both of Pekin; two sisters, Beverly (Bill) Beasley of Marquette Heights and Katherine Denning of Pekin. Ronald worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 40 years retiring in 1988 as a switchman engineer on the inter-plant railroad. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin. Ronald loved spending time with his family and looked forward to his monthly poker game with his buddies. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church 1315 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554 or to the American Cancer Society 4234 North Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, IL 61614.
