Ruby E Benefield

Born August 1, 1923 in Murphysboro to Ira and Maude Naomi (Bailey) Holiday, she married Floyd Murel Benefield on October 4, 1941 in Jackson, Missouri. He survives of Quincy.

Also surviving are five daughters, Alice Fay McClanahan, Wanda Mae Merritt, Linda Jane (Rev. Jerry) Agee, all of Pekin, Charlotte (Gary) Turner and Rebecca Pauline Benefield, both of North Pekin; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Harold Holiday of Oblong, IL, Calvin Carlock of Boyes, Louisiana, Charlie Carlock and Paul Carlock, both of Pekin and Ralph Carlock of Norman, Oklahoma.

Her parents, one son, Carlis Ray Benefield; three grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.

A homemaker, Ruby enjoyed cooking, crocheting and sewing, canning foods and fishing. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Ruby attended Lord's Table Church of God in Bartonville, and her church was very important to her.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Ron Simmons will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
