

Born August 15, 1928 in Mt. Pulaski to Herschel Hillard and Clara Grace (Tabor) Harris, she married Ernest D. Campbell, Sr. on November 7, 1945 in McLeansboro. He died April 11, 1974 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Ernest “Ernie” (Gay) Campbell, Jr. of Washington, Stephen (Angela) Campbell of Pekin and Dennis (Jeannie Thomas) Campbell of Sun Prairie, WI; one daughter, Carolyn (David) Robertson of Pekin; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leland (Lois) Harris of Fairfield and Ray Harris of Tupelo, MS and one sister, Brenda Brown of Bluford.
Ruby was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed doing genealogy research. She formerly worked for Sears, Roebuck & Company and later Montgomery Ward, both in Peoria in home interior decorating department. She was a member of the former Church of Christ in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Timothy P. Collard will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
