

CREVE COEUR ~ Russell Roscoe "Buck" Grammer, 81, of 240 North Stewart Street, passed away at 8:53 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at his residence.Born May 28, 1927 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Russell William and Helen I. Grammer, he married Waunita Mae Schahfer on November 5, 1048 in Lafayette, Indiana. She died January 9, 2005 in Morton. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, William E. Grammer and Martin D. Grammer, and three sisters.Surviving are his companion, Gerri Dalton of Creve Coeur; three sons, Collett Russell (Carol A.) Grammer and Kyle Eugene Grammer, both of Creve Coeur and Shannon Troy Grammer of McKinney, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty (Frank) Chaney of Danville.Buck worked as a millwright for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria, retiring in 1982. He also worked as a bus driver for Creve Coeur School District #76 for 42 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur. He also was a member of the Martin-Courtney Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #4835 and the Creve Coeur American Legion Post #1234.He loved horses and never missed a rodeo.His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. David L. Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, where military rites will be provided by the Tazewell Military Rites Team and the United States Navy.Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, Post Office Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250.
