

PEKIN ~ Ruth Marie Bond “Gramma Frog”, 84, formerly of Pekin, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at her home in Low Point, where she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter Brianna.
Born January 2, 1938 in Sycamore to Marvin and Mildred (Kirkman) Adkins, she married Stanley “Stan” Bond on May 2, 1964 in Elgin. He preceded her in death August 29, 2013 in East Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Adkins.
Surviving are four daughters, Lynda Mitton of East Peoria, Sharon (Joe Lockwood) Bond of Peoria, Debbie (Heath) Harper of Groveland and Christine (Ron) Colvin of Washington; seven grandchildren; Britney Girton, Brianna Girton, John Girton, Danzig Girton, Katelyn Pilcher, Doug Mitton, Jr. and Joseph Harper; nine great-grandchildren, Nyla Brock, Josiah Tracy, Ciella Girton, Wesley Girton, Addison Girton, Nehemiah Harris, Alexander Girton, Ayden Girton and Layla Dixson; one sister, Sarah (Clifford) Hunt of Oak Park; Linda Chefko, whom she considered a daughter; and her beloved dog.
Ruth worked for Sherman Hospital in Elgin as a pharmacy assistant for 10 years before starting her family. She enjoyed gardening and collecting cookie jars and frogs. Ruth was devoted to her family and cherished the time they spent together.
She lived at Fondulac Rehabilitation and Health Care for 9 years, making many memories and friends.
Ruth was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin.
