Born February 5, 1933 in Samuel, Missouri to Howard and Mable (Garrison) Phillips, he married Darlene Fischer on June 27, 1954 in Pekin. She died on August 18, 2011.
Also preceding in death were 1 sister, Betty Evans and 1 brother, Bill Phillips.
Surviving are 2 sisters, Barbara Ellen Kaisner of Florida and Rebecca Marie "Mick" Mansini of Pekin.
Sam worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 38 years, retiring in 1990.
He loved playing golf and fishing in Florida.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
Private burial of cremated remains will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
