Born December 18, 1942 in Joliet to Guy "Pete" Jr. and DeEtta (Lister) Flowers, she married Donald E. Herrmann on July 10, 1960 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother of Pekin; two daughters, Kristina S. (Chris) Egli of LaRose and Rachel L. Herrmann at home; two sons, Darryn G. (Lori) Herrmann of Mahomet and Derek J. Herrmann of Bloomington; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; two step-great-granddaughters; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Her father preceded her in death.
Sandy was a 1960 graduate of Pekin Community High School and attended their monthly "Girls Night Out".
Sandy worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for 10 years at both the Pekin and Peoria offices, last working in 1987.
She was a member of St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley and the choral parents group at Pekin Community High School. She was a past board member of Good Shepherd School in Pekin and had been a counselor for Teens for Christ.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley. The Rev. Thomas R. Wenndt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
