I am so sorry for your loss, Starr,  boys, and families.  But so glad to know that Scott is in heaven celebrating with Jesus.  I always enjoyed volleyball officiating at Rankin with Mr. King as principal.  He was always so helpful and happy.  He was such a shining example to all who knew him.  Know the comfort that only the Lord can give at this time.

My sympathies to Starr & his sons. Scott was one of the nicest classmates at C.B. Smith, Edison, a great basketball player & friend to all. This was his fourth grade photo. Fly high good & faithful servant.🕊️

Scott was a friend of mine from  Pekin. We would play as children, Kick the can and Baseball till it got too dark, or our parents would call us home.  We stayed friends through High School.

I’m so sorry to hear about MrKings passing. He was a great educator and Principal when my children were at Rankin. The children always loved him. Sending our condolences to you and your family.

Starr and family, Aimee and I are saddened by the loss of Scott , we have been friends for over 53 years, I played basketball against Scott in Jr High, then we were classmates (class of 1975)we caught up several years ago, we were shopping and it was a blessing to hear his testimony of how he had received the Lord, giving us the reassurance he would be with loved ones heaven ! Scott was soft spoken, polite, courteous, and a thoughtful, he is definitely going to be missed here on this earth, you have lost a great husband, Dad and grandpa, may our Lord comfort you all at this difficult time,         Ed&Aimee

Mr. King was a light amongst shadows. He was inspirational and a role model for all. Growing up under his influence molded me into the person I am today. I am forever indebted to him for believing in me. Rest easy, Mr. King. Thank you for the life you shared.

Mr. King was such an important presence in my life. As my 8th grade teacher, then as my coworker and principal. He truly loved his role as a teacher and principal and there was never a doubt the care that he had for his students and other teachers. Thank you for everything Mr. King.

Mr. King was my sisters principal then mine! He was an awesome principal and an awesome P.E teacher I will always remember him making us run to very long songs like baby by Justin Bieber and don’t stop believing. He was a very nice man and I am thankful to have known him. Prayers to the family ❤️

Mr King was my 8th grade teacher at Rankin, I believe his first teaching job. He was a great teacher and person. What I remember most is playing pick up basketball with him in the summers, he was a master of the bank shot. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Rankin School District #98 is saddened by the news of the passing of Mr. Scott King.  Mr. King worked at Rankin for 34 years beginning with the 1980-1981 school year through the end of the 2013-2014 school year. During his time at Rankin, Mr. King served in many important capacities.  He taught for 18 years, coached for 20 years, and was an administrator for 16 years.  Mr. King was included in the sixth edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers 2000.  Our hearts, prayers, and thoughts go out to Mr. King’s family.  He will be missed greatly, and Rankin is very thankful for the lasting impact he left on this school district.

So surprised to see this. Starr and children, please accept my sympathies and caring thoughts. Scott was a few years older (and wiser), but I have fond memories of playing on the same Little League team with him. Just recently I bumped into him at Menards and Krogers. We talked, we laughed. An all-around awesome person. Scott will be missed.  Grace and peace to you, family.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. King.  He was at Rankin when my son was there several years ago.  He always seemed to really like the students & his role in educating them.  I am sure he will be missed by all of those students whose lives he touched.

I would like to second the comments from Mike and Dave and others about my friend Scott King. I also enjoyed many sports activities with Scott at Edison and throughout my childhood. I always looked up to Scott, both literally (He was tall!) and as a great example and role model.  And he did a great job of being tall for us small guys.  To me, Scott was always a "humbly magnificent" friend, and someone   you "really could" look up to. We are lucky to have had him among us.

Even though our boys went to Rankin School and had Scott for a teacher/principal, it wasn't until a chance encounter at Parkview Golf Course that we then became good friends and fellow golfers with Scott & Starr on their "couples" morning league at Fond-du-Lac . We enjoyed many games of golf and cards with them and know how proud he was of his beautiful family which was everything to him.  We will treasure the memories always and so blessed to have called him "friend."  Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers.  Bonnie/Don Murphy

Please accept my sincere condolences .  Although I didn’t know Scott personally,  I had heard many stories about his athleticism over the years.  Starr, you  are to be commended for  helping him manage  the effects of his illness.   Being a caregiver is one of the toughest things a family member  has to handle. May comfort & peace surround the whole family at this difficult time.

Though loss for a lot of  people,great guy.grew up with Scott all the way from grade school and high school Had many sand lot baseball, basketball, football games a Edison RIP MY OLD BUDDY

If life is a canvas, mine is filled with colors shaped by my best friend, Scott. From Biddy Basketball to Little League, we were drawing the outlines of a friendship that would last a lifetime. We laughed, competed, failed, triumphed—and most of all, we grew together.

One Little League All-Star game stands out. Scott hit three home runs—three beautiful arcs across the sky. After the game, he pulled three pennies from his pocket. I never knew exactly what they meant—maybe luck or faith—but it felt like Scott: subtle, humble, quietly extraordinary.

In Pony League, we once pitched against each other in a 14-inning game. Neither of us wanted to come out. It wasn’t about the win—it was about heart. Grit. That grit stayed with him, especially when cancer came—not once, but twice. He never gave up.

We played high school and college ball together. I was shortstop; he played first base. More times than I can count, he saved me from a bad throw. That’s how he lived—reliable, ready, looking out for others. He always had my back.

When his mother passed, something in him shifted. That’s when he found Christ. His faith wasn’t loud, but it was real. He treated everyone with quiet respect. He never called me “Dave” or “Bingo”—I was always “David.” That may seem small, but it speaks volumes. He saw people for who they were, and he honored them.

He was a loving father and grandfather, but his greatest devotion was to Starr. Their bond was beautiful—loyal, patient, and deep. Starr, thank you for being his rock and for sharing him with us.

In his final chapter, he brought our group—Ronn, Gregg, Scott, and me—back together. Friday golf was our ritual. He was the "Teemaster." Even in his last outing, he beat me by four strokes. He never lost his edge.

I’ll miss him deeply. But I know where he is, and I’ll see him again. Until then, I’ll carry him with me—in every memory, every game, and every tee time.

He was, and always will be, my friend, my brother in Christ.
