Sherman Brubaker

MAPLETON ~ Sherman Brubaker, 81, of 5114 South Chesterfield Court, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at his residence.

Born December 1, 1929 in Peoria to Peter O. and Ruby (McCabe) Brubaker, he married Catherine Wagoner on May 25, 1979 in Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Sherman Brubaker, Jr. of Sparks, Nevada and Bruce C. (Kim) Brubaker of Sikeston, Missouri; one daughter, Gayle Morgan of Pekin; two step-sons, Richard E. (Tracie) Fisk of Iuka, Randall S. (Michelle) Fisk of Peoria; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ron (Joann) Brubaker of Mackinaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He had served in the United States Army.

Sherman was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin.

He worked as a lineman-journeyman for CILCO for 38 years, retiring in 1991.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church in Pekin.  Cremation arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
