

Born September 29, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Eugene and Elsie Estelle (Caldwell) Secrest, she married Robert Henry St. Clair on June 4, 2005 in Peoria. He died on August 4, 2015 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joseph Secrest.
Surviving are two daughters, Vickie (Jerry McCue) Golden of Ft. Myers, Florida and Teresa Mont of Pekin; one son, Randall (Glenna) Byrd of North Ft. Myers, Florida; six grandchildren, Robert Golden, Angela (Joseph) Hallihan, Nicole (Reid) Just, Wesley (Kelsey) Gardner, Greg Byrd and Kim (Sam) Crawford; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and two brothers, Lyle (Zona Schneider) Secrest of Pekin and Gary Secrest of Waterloo.
Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
She last worked for the Salvation Army as a secretary at their divisional headquarters in Peoria for 24 years, retiring in 2010. She previously had worked at Pekin Park District as a secretary in the Recreation Department for 15 years and also for a year at the Pekin Daily Times and a year at the Tazewell County Clerk’s Office.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was a longtime secretary of the Sunday school. She formerly enjoyed square dancing, sewing and crocheting.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Pastor Randy Justus will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
