

Born March 31, 1928 in Manito to Harry and Ethel (Horner) Martin, he married Betty Lauraine Roth on May 15, 1949 in Pekin. She died March 7, 2003 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Melissa Sue Martin and two brothers, Clarence Martin and Harry Martin.
Surviving are three daughters, Pamela A. (Steven) Schmidgall of Tremont, Yvonne J. (Roger) Look of Metamora and Connie K. (Rev. John) Vaughn of Pekin; two sons, Michael S. (Lori) Martin of Geneseo and Douglas H. (Lori) Martin of Oswego; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Pekin Community High School, Stan also attended Bradley University. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948.
Stan retired in 1994 after 44 fulfilling years as a jeweler.
He was an avid reader and history buff. Stan also enjoyed fishing. He will be remembered as a family man who was devoted to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was a member of New Covenant Church of God in Peoria and was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Patrick McCone will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded.
