Terry was an outstanding soldier and individual.  I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing.  Terry was a professional leader who always put his troops welfare before his own.  Thank you for your service CSM Howell.

Uncle Terry was one of a kind. He was such a kind and genuine person. Anyone who crossed paths with Terry always came away with a smile on their face. We always looked forward to hearing his stories and musings on everyday life. Family parties won't be the same. Our sincere condolences.

I was incredibly fortunate to have had Mr. Howell impact my life beginning in 1994, when he served as our 'full-time substitute' teacher. He guided our group of rambunctious kids with a rare blend of compassion and patience that left a lasting impression. Years later, after completing my enlistment in the Army and moving back to Pekin, life brought us together again. I joined the Elks in 2009 and discovered he was an active member. Not only did he remember me, but he also cherished specific stories from those old school days that we liked to reminisce about.
As fellow combat veterans, we shared a bond and discovered we belonged to the same VFW post, where I serve as the Senior Vice Commander. Life came full circle when his daughter eventually taught both of my daughters. Because of that connection, I was blessed with the opportunity to visit with him each year on Veterans Day at Rankin School until my girls graduated. Just a couple of weeks ago, my sister ran into him at lunch; true to his thoughtful nature, he asked how I was doing and took my phone number. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to connect one last time. I am deeply saddened by the loss of this truly remarkable man. Mr. Howell was a pillar of our community, a dedicated educator, and a brother-in-arms. He will be missed, and my prayers go out to his daughter Stacy and the rest of his family.

I first met Terry in 1981 when I reenlisted in the Army Reserves...he was my 1sgt. After 4 years I transfered to another unit and at some point Terry got promoted to CSM and we ended up in the same unit again.  Terry was always an inspiration to me and I learned a lot from him. After we both retired we stayed in touch through phone calls and breakfast or lunch meetings. The world has lost a wonderful person and he will surely be missed. RIP brother!

Goodness, Terry has been a staple at Rankin School since before I even started. From treats to shenanigans, there was never a dull moment with him around. He had the biggest heart and the best laugh, always making sure everyone else was taken care of.

To know him was to love him. So blessed to have known him and to have so many fond memories of him. He will be deeply missed.

Dear the Howell Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear about Terry’s passing. I first met Terry when he brought his vehicles to me for repairs, but because of his incredible personality, he quickly grew from a customer into a truly good friend.
Working on Terry's vehicles never felt like a job because it always came with a side of great conversation. I am going to deeply miss our classic back-and-forth banter about Chevy vs. Ford—those friendly debates were always the highlight of my week, and he never missed a chance to get a good laugh in.
Terry was a remarkable man with a huge heart, and the garage won't feel the same without his visits. I feel incredibly grateful for the friendship we shared. Please know that my thoughts and deepest condolences are with your entire family during this difficult time.

I am sorry to learn of your father’s passing.  Even though I did not know him personally I know that he was a big influence on you.  Following in his footsteps as an educator must have made him extremely proud of you.  Helping your mom in the days ahead will be difficult but I know you will take care of what needs to be done.

We served together in the Army. Went separate ways in Vietnam, Terry to DaNang me to Chu Lai but kept in touch while in Nam and back here in the USA. We had a couple of other times together but we will talk about those when we meet up again. RIP  my friend. The circle gets smaller

My condolences  to Terry's family for their loss.  I knew him for over 40 years. I took many trips to the Elks  bowling tournament with him.  Was a veteran, as was Terry.  Was in Vietnam as was Terry.  I will miss him as will many of his friends.  May God bless him and and all of his family.  Bless you Terry.
