Born June 26, 1938 in Pekin to Robert and Mildred (McPhearson) Meyer, he married Toshie Uchida on July 30, 1963 in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Joyce (Tim) Ricci of Pekin; one grandson, David Matthew Ricci of Pekin and two sisters, Patricia Ann (Wendy Bouhl) Meyer and Lori (Bob) Plemmons, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Dwight Meyer and Jeffery Wayne Meyer, both on December 17, 1977.
He had served in the Illinois National Guard, United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. He attained the rank of Corporal.
Ted worked as a switchman for the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad and then for the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railway, retiring in 2000.
He will be remembered as an all-around outdoorsman and family man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time spoiling his grandson.
His private graveside service will be Monday, April 12, 2021 at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
