

Born January 3, 1940, in Pekin to John and Kathryn (Ryan) Lowman, he married Judith Kay Schwartz on September 10, 1961, in Springfield, IL. She died February 21, 2020, in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Lowman, and one sister, Colette Shane.
Surviving are two daughters, Teri (Tarry) Hoeft of Green Valley and Gayle (Kappy) Koch of Tremont; two sons, Tom (Debbie) Lowman of Pekin and Tim (Sandy) Lowman of Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren: Kyle (Taylor) Hoeft, Ryan Koch, Sean Koch, Brody Koch, Allison Lowman, Emily Lowman, Abigail (Katie) Mirabelli, Lydia Lowman and Rachel Lowman, and two great-grandchildren, Jaci Hoeft and Kane Hoeft.
He had served in the Illinois National Guard.
Tom started his working career as an apprentice with the International Association of Machinists Local 360 at Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville. He held various maintenance machinist positions throughout his career and retired in 2002, from Williams Energy in Pekin with ten years of service. In his job interview at Williams, he was asked what his greatest accomplishment in life was, and he replied, “I raised four kids and not one of them owes me a dime.”
Tom and his wife, Judy, enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, and especially fishing for blue catfish on Kentucky Lake for more than 20 years. Tom was a member of the Peoria Sportsman’s Club and William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 in Pekin.
There will be no visitation or services per Tom’s request. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private inurnment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
