Born December 3, 1948 in Springfield to Dale E. and Helen (Nolting) Sutton, he married Carol Jean Langenbahn on April 27, 1969 in San Jose. She died on May 9, 2024 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gerald Sutton and one sister, Margaret Geary.
Surviving are one daughter, Michelle Sutton of Peoria; two brothers, Edward Sutton and Duane Sutton, both of Delavan; one sister, Anna Sutton of Delavan; one sister-in-law, Coleen Merry of Pekin; one brother-in-law, Wayne Geary of Delavan and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was a 1966 graduate of Delavan High School and had proudly served in the Illinois Army National Guard.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 42 years as an electrician, retiring in 2009.
Tom enjoyed time spent with family and enjoyed woodworking, target shooting, fishing and bowling. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
